We would like to work with Save the Children, a non-profit organization that does exactly what its name says.
In the world we live in today, education is an obvious necessity--a basic need. Education enables one to improve their social class, have a voice in politics, and make logical life choices. In America, every citizens is guaranteed at least a high school education.
Unfortunately, the conditions in many other countries makes it impossible to provide this basic need. Many children are either unable to physically access or financially pay for education. An example is Bhutan, with its unforgiving mountainous terrain and low GDP per capita, many children are uneducated. Without education, their future is bleak; they can only do manual work and other low-paying jobs. Saddened and concerned about the plight of these children, the students of WW-P High School North have devised a possible solution: a mobile classroom. This mobile classroom is essentially a modified bus that can not only traverse different terrains, but will also be equipped with all the necessary tools to teach middle schoolers.
In order to construct this mobile classroom, the students have reached out to the non-profit organization Save the Children. This organization works to improve education in several nations including Bhutan. Regardless, the education rate in Bhutan remains at a dismal 12% for children living in remote areas. Therefore, a mobile classroom will be perfect at helping these removed individuals from gaining access to necessary resources and an education.
Our classroom will be equipped with adequate space for 20 students and have all necessary facilities such as bathrooms, whiteboards, desks, shelves, etc. In total we estimate that we need about $90,000 in order to fund this project and we hope that Save the Children will be willing to support us.
Sincerely,
Mobile Middle School Classroom Team
